I have hope
I wanted to share this. I have depression. I have had it for
years. I have also had a lot of bad medical advice and diagnoses. Depression is
lumped in with mental illness. It is real. It does not mean a person is crazy.
Doctors are only human and sometimes they don’t get it correct. Always remember
they are not God they are human beings with feelings that put their drawers on
just like the rest of us.
I am here to tell you it is okay. It is okay to have mental
illness and if anyone looks at you strange, tell them Julia said to “Bite me.”
It is okay to have a disorder. It is okay to talk about it and not to be
ashamed. Not all people with mental illnesses go around waving guns and
shooting people—in actual fact, many people with mental illness just want to
destroy themselves. Beware: prescribed medicines also can cause depression to
worsen or to be relieved; they can also cause the problem.
Before mental illness I was diagnosed with a chronic
physical illness dealing with the auto-immune group. Learn the difference
between immunodeficiency and auto-immune.
In 1994—at a junior
college, someone over heard me talking to my doctor on the phone. Regardless of
the interpretation, within 24 hours I had HIV/Aid—by rumor alone. Someone’s
vicious mouth convicted me to at least 90 days of horribly mean ridicule.
Recently in the past
two years, I have been convicted again by ignorance. “I am sick because I don’t
have enough faith and that is why God will not heal me.” “If you will drop the
weight, all your health problems will be cured. Your face is pretty.” “She
looks like she had one too many pieces of bacon.” These comments hurt. I had my
doctor write out a prescription to where I did not have to pay to eat in a
cafeteria unless I wanted to. I spent my money staying in solitude at home,
alone. I was even recently told that my presence is not needed.
Unfortunately, I have
not recovered. I still get out when I need to or have to. I have to get out and
find who needs me. My children are grown and they still need me but not as
much. The stranger on the corner begging
needs that bag of food I gave him or her. My mother needs me. My brother needs
me. My niece and great nephews need me. There are others I have learned that
need me—many friends and many associates.
We are taught to
ignore meanness. But, when a person is physically and mentally not well, it is
very difficult, because the words reverberate in our minds.
So let me clarify:
I was a lot smaller
than when I began to get sick physically. I have an auto-immune disease where
my body attacks my thyroid gland and all the tissue around it. The thyroid
releases tRNA to other parts of the body. In many cases the tRNA becomes
distorted or damaged. This causes my neck to be thick. The chemicals that the thyroid
produces affect my female endocrine system which can cause peri-menopause
symptoms. It also causes menstrual flow cycles to last as much as thirty days
and helps with the formation of non-cancerous uterine tumors. A person can gain
weight, then suddenly drop weight, and gain it again. No two people with the
disease are alike. It is in the same class as MS or Lupus. Some of us get
diabetes others don’t. Some respond to generic medications others don’t. Some become depressed and others don’t. Some
get Rheumatoid Arthritis and others don’t. It takes me ninety-days to drop six
pounds that was gained in maybe four days without a diet change. No reason for
the weight gain. It is amazing how a little gland in a woman’s neck can affect
a lot. Men sometimes get this but very seldom. I only know one man who has this
disease. He is fighting his Leukemia as well as his mental illness.
Have you ever heard: “My weight gain is glandular.”
Response: “Back away from the table. You could stand to do
without a few meals.”
That response if taken seriously can cause extreme harm to a
person with an auto-immune disease. Skipping a meal can make a person (like me)
gain weight. At first I could not believe it. It is true. It is not the amount,
it is the type and the combination of food we eat. The responder in this case
was ignorant and offensive.
I had a mild stroke once. The doctor still thinks I am
having TIAs—which I do and do not know what that is. I am just tired of test. I
am tired of medicine which makes the depression worse or my blood pressure
uncontrollable. I was not a diabetic but insulin resistant. I am a diabetic
now. I have stage one kidney disease. I have trouble seeing out of one eye due
to diabetic retinopathy. I have cataracts and my insurance company stated “I am
too young to have them removed.” I have diabetic neuropathy.
I am due to have surgery on Thursday of next week. Some test
result taken a pre-registration did not come back really positive. I have to
speak with my doctor and we will decide this morning.
I wanted to share this. We each have a path to walk. What really
gets me most of all? At this very moment I can’t get my shoes on. In two years
they have gone from an 8 ½ to 10 wide. That is depressing … I try to keep a
smile on my face and be confident…but it doesn’t always work that way.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give
to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be
afraid.
John 14:27
Keep each other in prayer. God bless you all to keep safely
in His arms.

Who is Walt Disney...
Is
Walt Disney racist? I read a comment recently when a younger person than I
posted on Facebook: “Walt Disney was a racist and did not like Jews.” This is
the first I had ever heard about this. Let’s examine the facts that I could
find.
The
most important question that needed to be answered is: Are we discussing the
person or the corporation?
Walt
Disney (1901-1966) the person:
He
was a cartoonist for his school news paper and attending Chicago Art Institute.
He dropped out of school to join the Army but was too young at 16. Since the
Army would not accept him, he joined the Red Cross and drove an ambulance in
France for a year during World War I.
In
1923, he and his brother Roy founded Walt Disney Productions. In 1925, he married Lillian Bond. In 1929,
Disney Productions started doing animated cartoons. Disneyland was opened in
1955. A few years later, the corporation was discussing a prototype park in
Florida.
Information
surrounding Walt Disney:
In
1941, there was a strike of artist talents and they either went to other
studios or left animation altogether. After World War II, Walt Disney was
called to testify before the House Committee on Un-American Activities to name
the strike leaders as communist. He also had to answer why he went to South
America for business during wartime.
The
corporation itself developed relationships with many major corporations for the
rides and exhibits at Disneyland. He sought out government scientist also to
assist in science education programs as well.
However,
Walt Disney—the man—after 1945 was nothing more than a corporate spokesperson
because Roy O. Walters became the head of the corporation itself.
Recent
discoveries:
Roy O. Disney’s grand-daughter
admitted during the filming of “Saving Mr. Banks” that her great-uncle was a racist
in agreements with Meryl Streep’s criticism about him as a person. She said it
in a loving manner. Another article that I read, Abigail Disney stated: that he
had a deep dislike for women –being called a misogynist
as well as anti-Semitic. To support these statements were actual personal
letter documentation dating as far back as 1938: “He did not trust women or
cats.”
Neal Gabler, author
of “Walt Disney: Triumph of the American Imagination”, in 2009, disputes by
stating: “Like most white Americans of his generation he was racially
insensitive” Gabler further contents that Disney, personally, he was not
anti-Semitic because he employed many Jewish people actors, directors, and
supporting roles to work with him.” To continue:
“Disney did not trust women. However, Disney was a product of his time…women
were confined to inking and painting in animation during the 1930s at all major
studios.”
The most interesting
thing that people remember about all of this, which is still debatable, was
that Walt Disney was a racist and anti-Semitic. What is in agreement by all parties
is that he disliked women but only in the work place but in most cases, that
seemed to be overlooked more than anything else.
The Disney
Corporation is a conglomerate of ventures, business, and one of the world’s
largest communication organizations today. Their employment vision statement adheres
to the American Labor Standards which they will not discriminate on the basis
of race, sex, sexual orientation, disability or religious affiliation.
Based on the information,
well, what can I say? His was a business man like many of his times, insusceptible
to the different factions of the times.
Even though, my cultural background is more races than to shake a “stick
at,” he was no different than anyone else to a certain extent. Yet, in our society, today, we still have the
tendency to rate a person on sight or sex without any rational or reasonable involvement
into the nature of the individual.
He was a visionary and
brought entertainment into the hearts of so many regardless of their sexual or cultural
backgrounds. It is time to let his life rest, for he is long gone from this
earth, and the past cannot be changed.
On a different note,
there are many of use that is in need of prayer due to health reason or other
reasons not stated—please keep them in prayer.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:18.
God bless you all and
keep you safely in His arms.

Why are we judging ...
I woke up thinking about this. I decided to do some more
research. I honestly broke down and cried when I read this article. This is the
late Michael Hasting's article in "Rolling Stone" that seemed to have
started all the vicious rumors. Some of the rumors are really twisted.
The emails are nothing more than a man/child-- home schooled
devout Christian, needing moral guidance from his father. He made a mistake and
joined the military. This young man was not fit for war-- because of his upbringing.
Unless I overlooked it, which is possible, in the "alleged emails"
which have disappeared there is no mention of "Allah." In one other
article I read the word Adullah was mentioned which is another word for
Mohammed. This boy was going to be a Christian Missionary and made a decision
instead to join the Military. Not everyone who joins the military is fit be in
the military. It takes a very special person. Harden not your hearts toward
this young man yet.
I understand that five (5) terrorist were traded off in
exchange. Do not blame any political party for this because the Democrats and
Republicans signed off “okay.” Some of
their names were John Kerry and John McCain; the two were questioning whether
this was the right move to make.
Bottom line, none of us were there and we are not privy to
all the facts in this particular case—we are able to hear rumors, he said/ she
said as reported by the news. Still in the back of my mind, I hear echoes of Vietnam
POW video’s that were propaganda—showing they were treated well and in
actuality they were not. I hear echoes of the soldiers walking off into the
jungle of Vietnam never being heard from again. My father told me of men who
walked off during Korea; they were never heard from again. Men walked off during
WW 2, WW 1, and the Civil War as well. There were uncounted men who did
this---some were even captured and hung. I hear echoes of young men and young
women who have been to war committing suicide.
If judged by a military court and found guilty, Bowe
Bergdahl will not be hanged but receive a military dishonorable discharge
because Congress has never declared War with Afghanistan. There may be other
penalties involved that I may not be aware of.
I honestly feel that this young man is not being judged
fairly in a country that wants the Bill of Rights, but is not willing to follow
them—unless it benefits the individual. The treatment of this young man by
about 12,000+ to date is “backwards.” Let me tell you why.
In the history of the US how many men were hung for crimes
they didn’t commit? There were more than enough men where mob rule raided the
jails and hung men without benefit of a trial or the true understanding whether
they were innocent or not.
Judge not, that you may not be judged. For with what
judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will
be measured back to you. Matthew 7:1-2
It is my understanding from many studies judging someone
means to condemn them. We as human beings are not capable of seeing a person’s
heart or knowing his or her relationship with God. In no shape, no form, and no
fashion should be acting in God’s place of making judgment on someone’s motives
or their salvation for the eternal life. However, has any man on this earth
been contacted by God to be concerned about the actions of others? This is
where common sense and reasoning as Christians have to come into play.
Keep in prayer each other.
God bless you all and keep you safely in His arms.

I will try not to judge anyone
A day does not go by that I do not sit in prayer for a
friend or a foe that I am associated with in one form or other. I attempt,
though, not to “hang” with foes because that is just too disturbing—too much
drama. I am a living breathing Christian. I also have many friends who are like
me and many who are not. I have one friend in particular that I debate points of
beliefs with not in an argumentative way, but like it is a game of sports. I
enjoy it too. When we discuss the Bible points and current events, we both
have to be in top notch form with no interruptions. I have several friends,
some old and some new that I learn from. I so much enjoy their points of view. I
appreciate the opinions of all if done with tactfulness and courtesy.
I do not
appreciate a stranger shoving Bible verses down my throat and judging me at the
same time!
I had to block someone on Facebook – a total stranger—because he called
me “evil.” This stranger judged me horribly because I thought “Unisex”
bathrooms were a good idea. What is the difference between the words “Unisex”
or “Family” bathrooms?
Follow my thoughts.
My children are two years, two months, to the date apart in
ages. When they were little, under 6 years old, and we would go shopping it
never failed that both had to go to the bathroom. Well every parent is just
really excited not to have to change diapers and relish the day when their children
urinate on their own; but, like most concerned parents, letting small little
boys into a very busy public men’s bathroom is a little scary because of
pedophiles that hid in the shadows of life. Same goes for their daughters as
well. Pedophiles are both men and women. Pedophiles attend your churches also.
Now it is awkward for mom’s to take their children in the bathrooms of just
women when it just women. Women in public bathrooms are not always modest
either in their talk, appearance, or actions. Changing a child’s diaper on a
public bathroom floor – would literally make me ill. That is the way it was in
1989 and 1992. Family restrooms did not come about until my children were well
past those ages.
This past week the Houston Mayor was able to get an ordinance
passed about “Unisex” bathrooms. Yesterday, I as in mid-town Houston –at a
grocery store--and had the pleasure of using a “Unisex” bathroom. I knocked on
the door, and the bathroom was empty. I was able to lock the door behind me to
do my thing uninterrupted. Notice I stated “locked the door in an empty
bathroom behind me.” I was alone in the bathroom. I didn’t like looking at a
men’s urinal on the wall. I decided to speak to the manager about this. I was
advised they were going to put a door on the urinal stall. First thing that
popped into my head was: “Wow. This should be more of a convenience for
families—both men and women alike with small children.
There was a handicapped
stall, urinal stall, changing stations, and regular stalls.”
Now many in the Christian community are up in arms. Why is
it because this ordinance was done by a lesbian mayor or the word “Unisex?” Yet, a stranger called me “evil” because I
have a different understanding that many do not.
I don’t want to go to the
bathroom with strangers –women or men—anymore than the next person. I went to
the “unisex” bathroom alone, with a locked door behind me. How safe is going to
the bathroom alone as a singular parent shopping with small children and be
able to lock the door in a public grocery store bathroom? Now, it is very safe.
The only question I have is will all the “unisex” bathrooms be the same in all
the stores? We do not know yet.
I do not necessarily support our Mayor because I do not care
for some of her politics. I respect the position and the person who was voted
for that position regardless of who they are. To quote me: “I don’t care if she
is from Tim-Buck-Two with a third eye, wearing pants upside down and paints her
two-third nails polka dotted.” Our Mayor’s personal life, her morality, etc. is
between God and her.
Why am I evil?
(That is a very thought provoking question.)
This person posted a few Bible verses aimed at my written opinion. At which
time: “Oh I do not feel like this.” I blocked this stranger. I cannot stress enough, that when Christians
judge others—like I was judged-- they hurt themselves and not me because I turn
a deaf ear and see not.
Stay away from stupid and senseless arguments. These only
lead to trouble, and God’s servants must not be troublemakers. They must be
kind to everyone, and they must be good teachers and very patient. Be humble
when you correct people who oppose you. Maybe God will lead them to turn to him
and learn the truth.
(2 Timothy 2:23-25)
Note…even though I don’t totally by
all that Paul writes, there is some value in some of his work. Yet there is a
dispute whether or not Paul wrote 1 or 2 Timothy or not.
Let me warn good Christian beware of your common senses
and make sure they are intact. If we judge on the actions of abomination or sin
we must judge all of them as listed in the word of God, the Bible. We cannot
just pick and choose what is considered as evil. Does abomination mean sin?
That is man’s individual interpretation of free will. Man’s interpretation can
be wrong.
Abomination is defined as dislike in the modern English
language.
There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an
abomination to him; haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent
blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil,
a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.
Proverbs 6:16-19.
He who justifies the wicked, and condemns the righteous are
both alike an abomination to the Lord.
Proverbs 17:15
I could go on posting many verses that speak of abominations.
However, this is where I am spiritually lacking to determine what denotes God’s
law verses Mosaic Law? Both are contained in the Bible.
It is also an abomination …to eat fish without fins or
scales… women walking around without their head being covered… round off the
hair on your temples or mar the edges of your bear... worthlessness…
bestiality… incest… pre-marital sex… divorced women remarrying… pride… cutting
one’s hair… prostitution… cross dressing… condemnation of others… and so on. (Alright---
no more eating lobster and shrimp you major Christian sinners who had sex
before marriage especially if you are a man wearing woman’s clothes or woman
wearing man’s clothes or anyone with short hair! This phrase is called “a little
humor.”)
In my studies, and after deep prayer, I honestly feel in my
heart that unless the abomination states as per the Lord, it is classified as a
forbidden practice because of the Mosaic Laws; it is not necessarily meaning to
designate it as a moral sin. We have to depend on God at this point. We have to
pray and I mean heavily—thought provoking, uninterrupted prayer.
As good Christians, examine your motives first and foremost
in your actions. Your Christian actions can push a possible Christian away from
God and Jesus faster than a cat that has a clothes’ pin on its tail. That is
pretty fast too.
Keep in prayer those with needs and as well as each other.
God bless you all and keep you safely in His arms.
